About Marcie Peterson

My name is Marcie Peterson. I am married to Chuck Peterson.  Together we have 2 daughters and 6 sons.  Most of our children are married and enjoy life centered around their families.  I also enjoy being a grandmother to twenty-three grandchildren. My childhood was spent in Ammon, Idaho. My parents built a roller-skating rink when I was 10. I grew up roller-skating. Even though I roller skated every day, my passion was snow skiing. I also liked camping, water skiing, dirt bikes, 3 wheelers and boating. I had the privilege of being an exchange student to Brazil. I stayed in Boto Fogo, which is a suburb of Rio. It was an experience I will never forget. I received a degree in electronics from Easter Idaho Technical College.  In 1987, I was hired by ATK/Thiokol to install instrumentation on rocket motors.  While employed at ATK/Thiokol, I was transferred to a special part of the company known as Non-Destructive testing.  While working with this department at ATK/Thiokol, I became certified in Level II X-ray, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Ultrasonics. While I was in college, I became involved with VICA. I was vice-president for my school and for the state of Idaho. I competed in several competitions and won a silver metal. I also got to go to nationals. Desiring to be home with my kids, I accepted a position in the Head Start program at the Davis School District.  I enjoyed this position for 15 years. While I was with Davis School District, I earned my CDA (Child Development Associate) for Pre-Kindergarten. I left my teaching job in Aug. 2018 to start Smart Start Learning Center with my daughter Shandi. We now have 2 locations, one in West Valley and Clearfield. Since opening Smart Start Learning Center, I have earned my Aim 4 Excellence credential and NAC (National Administrators Credential). I love working with Shandi and we have an excellent staff. The best part is I still get to be with children. I love to do any kind of craft. I do everything from porcelain dolls to card making. I even have 3 kilns.
